Loanhead Children's Day 2012 will take place on Saturday 23 June. The traditional Crowning Ceremony will take place on Fountain Green in the centre of Loanhead. This will be followed by the Grand Procession, which is Midlothian's largest annual parade, and an afternoon programme of entertainment in the Memorial Park.

Following the hugely successful celebrations to mark our centenary in 2003, 2012 will see us reach another important milestone with the Crowning of Loanhead's 100th Queen (no Queen having been crowned in 1903 and in certain years during the two World Wars).

Prior to Children's Day itself, an extensive programme of events will be held, commencing with the Carnival Parade on the evening of Friday 15 June. Floats, decorated vehicles, hundreds of characters in fancy dress and various bands will take part. The remainder of the Gala Week programme includes various sports events and entertainment on the stage at Fountain Green.
