Loanhead Children’s Day is Midlothian’s oldest and largest local festival. Founded in 1903, the event has grown to become one of Scotland’s foremost community events. Check out the photo galleries for recent years.
Loanhead Children's Day 2010 took place place on Saturday 26 June. The traditional and highly colourful Crowning Ceremony was at Fountain Green in the centre of Loanhead. This was followed by the Grand Procession, which is Midlothian’s largest annual parade.
Prior to Children’s Day itself, an extensive programme of events commenced with the Carnival Parade on the evening of Friday 18 June 2010. Floats, decorated vehicles, hundreds of characters in fancy dress and various bands took part. The site now contains 100s of photographs from Loanhead Gala Week 2010 - see links below
The remainder of the Gala Week programme included various sporting competitions and free concerts and other entertainment on the stage at Fountain Green every evening from Monday 21st June to Friday 25th June 2010.
